Look at things the way they are in this world. As my dad and stepmom like to do, blame anything bad on Bush. But let's fix that. Listen to Ivor Cutler's idea, circa 1983 (click on title).

Climate change will solve it all. Human civilization as we know it will be substantially gone in 10 generations from now.
I always figured your dad for a pretty smart guy. Nice to see it confirmed.
You know, I like almost every woman I know individually, but as a group, I don't think I'd trust them to govern any more than I trust the Republicans.
And Cory, civilization as the people of 10 generations ago knew it is substantially gone, so it isn;t exactly profound to say that the same thing will happen again. On the other hand, what you say reminds me of the Einstein (or was it someone else?) quote, "I don't know with what weapons World War 3 will be fought, but World War 4 will be fought with sticks and stones."
looking forward to reading A Brief History of Progress! (Graham is my uncle, not cory graham, ha ha) and it's true that civilization as we know it will be gone in 10 generations--guess I'll have to read the book to find out what they mean by "as we know it", huh?
